AVISE Program: Comprehensive services for sexual violence
AVISE is a comprehensive services program that offers medical, psychological and legal services to victims of sexual violence. The program is undertaken in an environment of confidentiality and respect for the dignity and rights of all.
The program is available in all 33 Profamilia centers in 29 cities in the country.
Services:
Medical assistance:
Pregnancy prevention through the use of emergency contraception methods.
Attention in the case of physical injury, gyno-obstetric assistance and treatment to prevent sexually transmitted infections.
HIV/AIDS tests immediately following sexual attacks and a test six months later in order to obtain trustworthy results.
Psychological assistance:
Crisis counseling
Help in seeking alternatives to support the victim
Evaluation and detection of risks of psychological trauma
Orientation on victims’ rights
Legal assistance:
Emphasis on victims’ rights
Information about the accusation and entities that are there to help
Orientation about the course that the penal process will follow and the expectations that can be had
Be an active part of this program.
Public and private organizations as well as individuals can contribute to the AVISE program.
AVISE focuses on sexual violence attention and the prevention of unwanted pregnancies.
